The historic building and artefacts needed saving in 1975 
     
Step up four local farmers:
• Jim Harvey
• Bill Simpson
• Burns Pollock 
• John Hore
who purchased the land, building and artefacts.

Later, the deteriorating building needed restoration and artefacts needed to be catalogued:
  • Nicol’s Blacksmith Historic Trust formed in 2006
  • Fundraising began
  • HNZ Category One Historic Place in 2009
  • Numerous Reports required
  • Artefacts Catalogued in 2011
  • Building Restoration completed in 2014
  • Sprinkler/security systems installed 2015
  • Nicol’s Blacksmith Shop Re-opened in 2015

Now fully restored, it was time to celebrate.
