Later, the deteriorating building needed restoration and artefacts needed to be catalogued:
- Nicol’s Blacksmith Historic Trust formed in 2006
- Fundraising began
- HNZ Category One Historic Place in 2009
- Numerous Reports required
- Artefacts Catalogued in 2011
- Building Restoration completed in 2014
- Sprinkler/security systems installed 2015
- Nicol’s Blacksmith Shop Re-opened in 2015

Now fully restored, it was time to celebrate.
